towing information
If your car has been towed in Baltimore, Maryland, don’t panic. The city provides a centralized online tool and phone numbers to help you locate your vehicle quickly. Here are the most effective steps to find out where your car was taken.
Step 1: Use the Online Vehicle Search Tool
The quickest way to find your towed vehicle is to use the online search portal. The Baltimore City Department of Transportation partners with a service called AutoReturn.
- Website: search.autoreturn.com
You will typically need your vehicle’s license plate number or the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to use this service. This should be your first step as it is the most immediate way to confirm if your vehicle is in the city’s impound system.
Step 2: Call 311 or the Towing Division
If you are unable to find your vehicle online or do not have internet access, you can call for information.
- Within Baltimore City: Dial 311
- Outside Baltimore City: Dial (443) 263-2220
